Sex and the City Revival Announced, Without Kim Cattrall | InstantHub

A Sex and the City revival is coming to HBO Max, Variety reported on Sunday. Series star Sarah Jessica Parker confirmed the announcement on her Instagram.

Not returning to the series, however, is Kim Cattrall. While the makers of the show have their lips sealed, many fans believe it is because of the contentious relationship between Cattrall and the other cast members, particularly Parker.

Bad blood between Cattrall and the cast had been rumored for years. And Cattrall made things official in 2017 in an interview with Piers Morgan. In the interview, she described the relationship between her and the cast as “toxic.” And getting even blunter, she clarified that she and her fellow cast had “never been friends.”

Regardless of behind-the-scenes bad blood, nobody can deny the cultural impact that the series had. The original series ran from 1998–2004 on HBO and spawned two successful theatrical movies. A prequel series, The Carrie Diaries, ran from 2013–2014 on The CW.

Only time will tell if this new HBO Max series (consisting of 10 half-hour episodes) will have a similar impact. A premiere date for the show has not been announced. But with production starting later this spring, we can only hope to see these powerful women back in action very soon.
